At 7 a.m., you wake up, make coffee, drag yourself to work for 8 hours; come home, lather, rinse, and repeat.
Dealing with the daily grind can take a lot out of a person and be exceptionally stressful! This article provides
many helpful tips and tricks to managing your stressful everyday life.
Reducing Stress
One of the most effective methods for reducing stress is to go on a long walk. Not only does this remove you from
the stressful environment it also allows you to clear your mind. If you go alone be sure to take some nice music
with you to help you feel even better.
Reducing stress in your work life may be as simple as challenging your own thinking on the things that cause
stress. For example, if you are stressing out about work, sit down and make a list of things that you need to do.
Next, write down the things that you know that you can do today. This allows you to set realistic goals, and eases
your mind a great deal. You may also identify where you may be stressing over things that MIGHT happen. This is
unnecessary and negative.
Close your eyes and visualize a calm scene. This scene may be different for everybody, but studies show that this
is a viable method for reducing stress. Try to remember the last time you felt warm, cozy, happy and relaxed. Put
your mind back into that situation. If you can't think of anything, imagine you are a lump of butter, under the
hot, soothing sun. Feel yourself melting, melting, until you are totally relaxed. Or, imagine you are on the
seashore, watching the tide come and go; and feel yourself relaxing.
If you have ever heard the saying that laughter is the best medicine, it's true! A great way to reduce stress is
simply to laugh. Laughter is nature's way of reducing the levels of stress hormones in your body. Along with
reducing stress hormones, laughter also increases the good hormones in your body like endorphins and
neurotransmitters, all of which help to make us happy.
Commit yourself to a hobby you love. Hobbies have the ability to take your mind off of the day's stressors. Plus,
many hobbies are also active in nature, making them doubly powerful in reducing stress. Quite a few people believe
that stepping back and partaking in a hobby helps to reduce stress. They often come back to the tasks at hand with
refreshed energy and even more creative solutions that seemingly appear out of the blue!
Also, don’t make yourself out to be a victim. This is only going to increase the amount of stress in your daily
life. It is important not to do this. Don’t get mired down in self-pity. Take control of your life! It is possible,
and not making yourself out to be a victim is a part of reducing stress and preventing stress in your life.
Now that you have learned a bit about stress management, you can get out there and enjoy the finer things in life!
Everyone experiences stress in life and it can happen for many reasons, but knowing how to manage that stress is
the key to success. Now go get yourself some much needed beauty sleep!
